The courage to be seen

It feels risky to truly connect with others because we fear they might hurt us. If we drop the façade -- the walls and pretenses we’ve built to protect ourselves -- we worry that someone could use what we share against us. That’s why vulnerability has developed a negative connotation in recent times.
But the truth is, it takes a courageous person to be vulnerable. Vulnerability is courage, humility, self-awareness, confidence, strength.
Of course, not everyone has earned the right to see that side of us. Trust is a process—built over time, proven through consistent actions, and shown in unconditional presence.
Only a confident, self-aware person will consciously allow themselves to be vulnerable. They understand that without showing their soul, real connection is impossible--it will always stay on the surface.
Yes, there is risk. But the reward of genuine connection far outweighs the safety of the comfort zone and the emptiness of a superficial life.
